Introducing Your Health Coach: Patty HopkerHello, I’m Patty Hopker , your Health Coach.
My main educational studies have been in psychology. Understanding the interrelationship of body, mind, and spirit, I was driven to complete my Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Health with a concentration in Lifestyles and Nutrition. When my husband passed away with colon cancer in 1996, my life changed forever. Shortly afterwards, my mother passed away from complications of diabetes Type II. I became acutely aware of the need for support systems for the chronically ill. I became a true believer in the need to make our bodies stronger so that illness doesn‘t stand a chance. Working as a social worker for the past 12 years was where I decided that I wanted to support and assist those individuals who want to have more control over the quality of their lives through the aging process. I have learned from my experiences that any effort made, can make a big difference. All of life should be full of joy and contentment and we each have the responsibility of making that happen for ourselves. I specialize in assisting individuals create a Health and Wellness plan they can live with. So many times, health issues, or those natural occurring aging issues arise that need our immediate attention. A well planned diet and activity plan can definitely support and improve our quality of life and special needs. If you’re ready for the change, and need help organizing your plan, I work with you and your Health Care Professionals in a team effort to help you formulate a plan. I am an avid bicycle rider in the Rogue Valley. From road biking to mountain biking, count me in. And if you like to bicycle, I’ve trained many times for century rides and 30-50 mile runs. Yes, even the training can be fun no matter what our age. I love to hike as well and I climb Table Rock and hike through our many local forest areas. I’m not ready to slow down yet--even though I’m over 50 years old. Actually, I’m just getting started -- come join me. So, here I am. I know I can take any hill as long as I keep smiling and pedaling. I do have a passion for bicycles. I’m a certified bicycle mechanic, so that helps with break downs on the long rides. I also love to ride my motorcycle, and hike too. I relax by working in my organic garden, exploring nature, drawing and reading. My favorite sport is Bicycle Racing, and yes, Lance Armstrong is my hero. Nothing gives me more joy than accomplishment. I feel so good with accomplishing even the most simple tasks or supporting others while they achieve theirs. I know I have helped make a difference in small, but monumental ways and I look forward to giving you support and encouragement through your journey of accomplishment too. |
